Pleasure

Callan Baird used to laugh more than he frowned, but that was before his wife died. Now his life is duty, debts and a general apathy for anything else. And then Victoria Burke burst into his life. She's everything he wants to corrupt.

Victoria has two choices: agree to a grouchy, sexy Scotsman's extortion or call her boss to explain why she can't do her job. Since she's spent the last three years rebuilding her career as antique appraiser, and this one commission could make or break it, the decision is a no-brainer. Except everything about Callan is complicated.

He sees no problem turning their work relationship into a sexual one. She refuses to break her boss' no-fraternization rule. He's the one thing she wants and the one thing she can't have. He's had his one great love, and doesn't want a replacement. His heart doesn't agree, because she's everything he desires.

Callan will have to let go of his past if he wants Victoria to be in his future.

Excerpt

He made a noise that she could only assume was agreement with her plan. So, yesterday wasn't a fluke—his default was rude. It should have killed her attraction to him, but of course it didn't.

Resigned, she led the way down the corridor and she had to stop again. Swords, axes, dirks and other weapons  decorated the main room. They'd proudly hoisted their family crest above the display.

He shook his head likely taking her moment of reverence as confusion. “You should have done your research. The castle was built—”

“In 1206,” she finished for him and then pointed to a horn that sat below the swords and crest. “Would you mind taking that down? It's not on the list, but that doesn't mean I can't talk my way into getting it included.”

He took it down but didn't hand it to her. “White metal mounts—”

“German silver was used for the mounts. I'm going to assume, until I can do further research, that it's from the 19th century. The thistle etching along the neck is a bit worn, but the domed cap is intact.” She squinted. “It seems to have the original chain. Based on what I know, this style wasn't actually used to hold gunpowder. They were mainly worn as decoration as part of the Highland dress.”

“Show off,” he muttered but she caught a twitch of his lips.

That set the tone for the next two hours as they roamed room to room. She'd find something of interest, either he or she would give the full break down, and then the loser would mutter an insult.
Author Bio

Melissa Blue’s writing career started on a typewriter one month after her son was born. This would have been an idyllic situation for a writer if it had been 1985, not 2004. Eventually she upgraded to a computer. She’s still typing away on the same computer, making imaginary people fall in love.

Blind Mercy

by Violetta Rand

The Sigurdsson family legacy continues…

A woman who prayed for a hero…

Orphaned at a young age, Rachelle Fiennes prayed for a hero to rescue her from her tragic life in England. When her only kinsman goes missing after the Battle of Stamford Bridge, Rachelle braves the aftermath of the battlefield to find him.

A man who lost everything…

Damned by the gods for surviving the bloodiest defeat in Norse history, Jarl Tyr Sigurdsson is still determined to get home. Hiding until nightfall so he can escape to his ship, his dangerous endeavor is disrupted when he’s accidently discovered by a beautiful Saxon.
Brought together by war, Rachelle and Tyr face many obstacles. Can sworn enemies find peace through love, or will fate be cruel?

EXCERPT

Since the first day they’d met, Tyr had been embroiled in strife and violence. Standing in this holy place, he seemed vulnerable, almost normal. Only once before had she seen this level of tenderheartedness in him. The degree of compassion he showed his deceased brother when he prepared him for funeral rites still haunted her. Of course, what man wouldn’t be moved by such tragedy? This was decidedly different. Baffled by this transformation, she watched him closely.

“I thank you for this kindness.”

He embraced her. The motivation behind his touch had changed, she felt it.
“I swear on this holy ground, I’ll never hurt you again,” he said.
He’d pledged it before. Could she be foolish enough to believe again? Didn’t he understand she couldn’t get past the fact he was holding her for ransom? Could she ever really forgive him for deceiving and shaming her? Caution did little to help her cause. Jolts of lust shot through her. It felt wonderful to be touched by him; but as welcome as those feelings were, they must stay hidden forever.

“I want to believe you,” she said.

He tipped her head upward. “I make no promises I can’t keep,” he assured her. “If there’s anything I can do to ease your pain, ask me.”

She remained silent. Somewhere in the recesses of her mind, a place existed where happy thoughts thrived. She pictured how it would be if he dropped on his knees and declared his love. All of this was quickly swept aside.

“I’ll leave you now,” he announced. “My men are aware of your situation and will not disturb your observances. When you are ready, they will escort you back to the house.”

AUTHOR BIO

Violetta Rand holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy and a master's degree in Environmental Management. Serving as an environmental scientist in the state of Alaska for over seven years, she enjoys the privilege of traveling to remote places few people have the opportunity to see.

Violetta has been "in love" with writing since childhood. Struck with an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age, at five, she wrote short stories illustrated by her best friend and sold them in her neighborhood. The only thing she loves more than writing is her wonderful relationship with her husband, Jeff. She enjoys outdoor activities, reading whatever she can get her hands on, music, and losing herself in the ancient worlds she enjoys bringing to life in the pages of her stories.

Where can you Violetta?

The Bannockburn Spell Print release and...zombies!

I love my publisher! In a strictly professional way that is.

Writing for Total-E-Bound Publishing  is awz-mazing!
That's a combo of awesome and amazing - or so my kidlets tell me. (Man I feel old,*eye roll*)

Why are they so special, you ask?

Because up until today, two of my three books have gone to print.
Today that changes, I am now officially three for three baby! WOO HOO!

That's right kids The Bannockburn Spell is now in PRINT!
PRINT I tells yah!
That...is why I love my publisher.

Click to buy  The Bannockburn Spell

So, it is time to get ink on your hands and paper cuts on your fingers. Whoot! Whoot!

FYI....I'm throwing a little giveaway on Goodreads starting on Friday May 17th. So, 5 lucky readers better be heading to the drug store to pick up some Band-Aids. LOL

This is such a fantastic feeling. All my stories are now published in both ebooks and in Print books, it doesn't get much better than that.

Will you have candles and books at the ready?
Not to mention, I'm totally safe if there is an unexpected EMP (elector magnetic pulse) burst over my house that wipes out all electrical devises. We won't be able to drive anywhere, call anyone, I won't  be able to cook dinner (which BTW I'm totally cool with, I hate cooking), but damn...I will have proof that I wrote three books. Feeding my family hot meals is overrated, they will have to suck it up and ride the sandwich train for a while.

Remember those rules people!

And what happens if there is some sort of infection that turns people into zombies? Well, while people are running for their lives they can carry a copy of The Bannockburn Spell or No Matter When in there backpacks. Books are lightweight, can easily be shoved into the outside pocket which leaves room for other important things like food, clean underwear and toilet paper.

Most important rule!
Let's face it, even people that spend their days chopping the heads off of zombies need down time, and what better way to enjoy your downtime then to kick back and read a book while munching on Twinkies. LOL

Anyhoo...
I just wanted to share my good news about The Bannockburn Spell and a few of my reasons for loving print books.
Although, there is something to be said about carrying a thousand books around with you in a devise that weights less than two pounds.

But what happens when you're in the middle of a great read and all of the above has happened?

Ask the local zombies for help?

Cheers,

Nancy
