THROUGH
HIS HEART
  A Minds Eye Novel

by  Deborah Camp

“Sending you an SOS.”

When psychic Trudy Tucker hears this plaintive cry in her mind and then connects psychically with a little girl’s kidnapper, she is drawn to a small town in Missouri where everyone is suspect – including herself and her lover, celebrated psychic detective Levi Wolfe.
As she and Levi work together to sort through whom and what to trust, an innocent life hangs in the balance.

Excerpt

Levi shifted his shoulders as if a weight had settled on them and his black brows knitted. His thick, sooty lashes tapped his cheeks as he squirmed a little. After taking a lung-filling breath, he let it escape in a long hiss. Trudy wondered what he was experiencing, what was going on in that brilliant mind of his. What did he see? Shadows moving in the distance? Souls stepping forward? A young girl emerging and answering his call? From the movement of his eyes behind his closed lids, she knew he was there . . . there among the spirits.

“Gregory,” he whispered.

His spirit guide! She sat forward, watching, waiting. He hadn’t connected with Gregory very much during the past few months. He’d told her that it bothered him, but that Gregory had reminded him that he only appeared when Levi needed guidance or centering. So, why had he appeared now? Was Levi having trouble? Had she been wrong to prod him into looking for Rachel over there?

“What’s going on?” Levi asked, his raspy voice carrying a sliver of doubt. “Who’s that? Is it . . . that’s not . . . no. No!” His eyes opened, wide and wild. He gasped for breath and emitted little grunts of panic with each exhale.

Trudy’s heart and spirits plummeted. “You saw her there? Rachel’s there?” A sob tore at her throat. How could she tell AmyLynn? Did the FBI know already?

“No . . . I . . .” Levi shot to his feet and scrubbed his face with his hands. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

“She’s there? Oh, my God, she’s dead. He killed her.” Trudy wrapped her arms around herself as she began to shake with the horrible knowledge. She’d failed. She’d been useless. Ineffective. A bad joke. The little girl . . . gone. Gone!

“I didn’t see Rachel.”

Pleasure

by Melissa Blue

Callan Baird used to laugh more than he frowned, but that was before his wife died. Now his life is duty, debts and a general apathy for anything else. And then Victoria Burke burst into his life. She's everything he wants to corrupt.

Victoria has two choices: agree to a grouchy, sexy Scotsman's extortion or call her boss to explain why she can't do her job. Since she's spent the last three years rebuilding her career as antique appraiser, and this one commission could make or break it, the decision is a no-brainer. Except everything about Callan is complicated.

He sees no problem turning their work relationship into a sexual one. She refuses to break her boss' no-fraternization rule. He's the one thing she wants and the one thing she can't have. He's had his one great love, and doesn't want a replacement. His heart doesn't agree, because she's everything he desires.

Callan will have to let go of his past if he wants Victoria to be in his future.

Excerpt

He made a noise that she could only assume was agreement with her plan. So, yesterday wasn't a fluke—his default was rude. It should have killed her attraction to him, but of course it didn't.

Resigned, she led the way down the corridor and she had to stop again. Swords, axes, dirks and other weapons  decorated the main room. They'd proudly hoisted their family crest above the display.

He shook his head likely taking her moment of reverence as confusion. “You should have done your research. The castle was built—”

“In 1206,” she finished for him and then pointed to a horn that sat below the swords and crest. “Would you mind taking that down? It's not on the list, but that doesn't mean I can't talk my way into getting it included.”

He took it down but didn't hand it to her. “White metal mounts—”

“German silver was used for the mounts. I'm going to assume, until I can do further research, that it's from the 19th century. The thistle etching along the neck is a bit worn, but the domed cap is intact.” She squinted. “It seems to have the original chain. Based on what I know, this style wasn't actually used to hold gunpowder. They were mainly worn as decoration as part of the Highland dress.”

“Show off,” he muttered but she caught a twitch of his lips.

That set the tone for the next two hours as they roamed room to room. She'd find something of interest, either he or she would give the full break down, and then the loser would mutter an insult.
Author Bio

Melissa Blue’s writing career started on a typewriter one month after her son was born. This would have been an idyllic situation for a writer if it had been 1985, not 2004. Eventually she upgraded to a computer. She’s still typing away on the same computer, making imaginary people fall in love.

Next Weekend by H K Carlton #b/s #romance

I'd like to welcome back Author H K Carlton

This time around H K has passed on the mobsters and informants from the Always Cambridge series and is giving us little something different that I think you just might like.

Okay I'll give you a hint... there's a movie coming out on Valentine's Day that is highly anticipated by all the mummy-porn fanatics.

Curious???

Thank you, Nancy, for inviting me back to talk a little bit about my latest release Next WEEKEND! An extremely mild D/s story.  This book is a far cry from the Always Cambridge Series.

Reverse Romance?

A romance novel classically places the focus on a deep emotional love and connection between the central characters. And to be classified as a romance the conclusion must have an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending, more commonly known as an HEA or happily-ever-after or an HFN, happily-for-now.

So would it be risky to begin a romance at the very end of a couple’s relationship? Perhaps. But I gave it a shot anyway. J What good could possibly come from the worst possible moment in a couples relationship? Absolute breakdown. When hostility is at an all time high and emotions are raw? Meet Jordan and Miranda.

WEEKEND
by  H K Carlton

Miranda and Jordan Lang cordially invite you to their divorce...

Jordie is not completely surprised when Miranda suggests they separate. Their marriage had been deteriorating from the moment they took their vows. Although heartbroken things didn’t work out with the woman he expected to spend the rest of his life with, he doesn’t contest her decision.

The only thing holding up the final divorce decree is the sale of their get-away cabin. In a weak moment, Miranda heads there for the weekend knowing full well that Jordie will also be there. Accidentally—on purpose, she seduces him and leaves an open invitation for another naughty weekender.

But the next time they meet, Jordie’s anger over the entire situation has kicked in and he finds himself being rough and commanding with her. And even more surprising, his ex likes it.

Follow Jordie as he finds and embraces his dominant side and Miranda her submissive self. Will it be enough to save their doomed relationship or will the issues that drove them apart remain more than they can overcome?

Be Warned: light bDSm

Excerpt

Jordan drove cautiously up the winding mountain road toward the cabin. Anxiety mixed with unwelcome excitement had his stomach tied in knots and his cock at half mast in anticipation.

Would she be there?

Visions of his soon-to-be ex-wife, Miranda, swam in his memory. His traitorous dick lengthened almost painfully as he relived last weekend’s impromptu romp.

Did he want her to be there?

No, he didn’t, but apparently his cock had other ideas. He palmed himself, then pulled at the knee of his trousers, trying to readjust for the sudden constrictiveness in his crotch.

“Fuckin’ bitch. How dare she do this,” he said aloud, disgusted that she could so easily wind him back up. They were over. Done. There was no going back. So why was he in such a hurry to return to the cottage?

Impulsively, he pulled over to the side of the road. He jammed the shifter into park and rested his forehead on the steering wheel. This was insane. Stupid. He’d regret this. But he couldn’t shake the image of Miranda slinking around in her tight little white panties.
She’d come to the cabin last weekend just to fuck. She knew he’d be there. She’d sought him out. He’d made her admit it. The moment he’d walked in and seen her there, he’d doubted his sanity. She was a dream, a vision in his open dress shirt. Her tits on full display. A fucking temptress. She knew exactly what he liked and she’d only come there to torture him. And he was helpless to fight it. He’d approached her, expecting her to fight and spit at him, but instead, she’d melted at his touch.

Tentatively, at first, he’d kissed her shoulders, moving to her full, responsive breasts. She’d been a mass of quivering need. He’d fingered her rather roughly, but she’d loved it. She’d wanted it, practically begged for it. And that was all he had intended to give her.
The same kind of tease she’d obviously planned for him. Until she’d admitted she’d not been with any other man since they’d broken up. It had surprised him. And weakened him. She’d mounted him and, again, he’d been too weak to deny her.

Then after she’d used him to slake her lust, the little bitch had even had the nerve to ask him if he’d be there the following weekend. As if inviting him for a repeat performance.

Fuck her. “The crazy slut wants me more now than she ever did when we were together.” He’d practically had to make an appointment to schedule sex, she was always so busy and focused on work. Then when she was home, she was “too tired.”

He should just turn around and drive back home. Leave the horny little bitch hanging. Make her drown in her own need, like she’d done to him the entire week. Wondering. Missing her. Drowning in memories.

But it was their encounter at the cabin that had him confused. It had been different. She’d needed him in a way she never had when they were together. “Vulnerable, that’s what she was.” Never a word he’d ever associated with his wife in the past. It was also something
he didn’t want to be on the other end of with her ever again. He’d been dealing with their breakup fairly well, he thought. The decision to split had been a mutual one. They were heading in different directions. Had grown apart. Her career was more important to her
than their relationship. And he wanted more.

“Turn around and go home, Jordan.” He looked up into the rearview mirror and stared back at himself with steely determination. “You can find good pussy anywhere. Ya been there, done that.”

He manoeuvred a hasty u-turn and headed back toward town.

 Dream
LOVER
by  Nancy Fraser

Haley Parker lost her academic scholarship when she quit school to care for her dying mother. Now, eager to return to her studies, she must find the perfect job that will allow her the freedom to attend evening classes.

Her best friend Chloe teaches at one of Boston’s finest private schools, a job Haley had once hoped would be hers. When Chloe snags Haley a referral for a position as nanny to high-powered attorney, Eric Garrison’s, two young children, Haley looks forward to taking on the task.

Eric finds himself drawn to the intelligent and loving young woman who has bewitched his children. It’s not long before he’s re-thinking his plan to avoid romantic entanglements. On a family vacation to Paris, he finds it impossible to resist the lovely, yet innocent Haley.

Haley willingly gives up her innocence for a chance to make love with Eric, even though she realizes it will change their professional relationship forever.

Excerpt

They finished the first book and were five pages into a second when the door to the library opened.

“Daddy,” Winnie shouted, jumping off Haley’s lap and running toward the opposite side of the room.

Haley stood and set the book down on the table beside the chair and then turned to meet Eric Garrison, the man who would hopefully become her employer. The moment their gazes met, Haley’s breath caught and her heartbeat picked up its tempo, fluttering inside her chest as wildly as the wings of the smallest hummingbird. The man was absolutely the most handsome she’d ever seen.

Her knees knocking, Haley started forward until she stood a few feet from the man. “Good evening, Mr. Garrison, I’m Haley Parker.”

“Miss Parker,” he acknowledged, nodding in her direction while scooping his daughter up in his arms. “I see my daughter has already coaxed you into reading her a book.”

“Yes, we were just beginning our second.”

“Between your willingness to read storybooks and your obvious skill at making paper hats, I’m sure you’ve already won over both my children. However, it would be remiss of me to not conduct a proper interview.”

“Of course.”

Eric Garrison pressed a quick kiss to his daughter’s forehead and suggested, “Doodlebug, perhaps you could head up to your room and get ready for bed. I’ll come up in a few minutes and finish your storybook.”

“Yes, Daddy.” She turned in Haley’s direction, “It was very nice meeting you, Miss Haley.”

“It was very nice meeting you as well, Winnie.”

“I’m sure my daddy will like you as much as we do.”

Haley could only hope that were true. “She’s a lovely child,” Haley said once Winnie had left the room.

Eric Garrison motioned Haley toward one of the two chairs facing the fireplace then took the other for himself. “She can be handful, as can her brother. I’m looking for someone who, while exploring both academics and play, can administer discipline when necessary.”

“Discipline?” Haley repeated. The thought of spanking a child totally went against everything she believed.

“Time spent in their rooms, contemplation of bad behavior,” he clarified. “I do not condone physical punishment of any sort.”

Haley breathed an audible sigh of relief. “Neither do I Mr. Garrison. I find the best approach to questionable behavior is either quiet time or perhaps an additional school lesson.” He nodded in agreement. “I understand you are friends with Winnie’s teacher.”

“Yes, Chloe and I grew up together and were roommates at college, at least for the first two years.”

“Mrs. Wilkes tells me you dropped out to care for an ailing mother. I find your sacrifice most admirable, yet a bit foolhardy.”

“Foolhardy? How can caring for loved ones seem rash or unwise?”

“Foregoing the remainder of your education sets you up for failure. Or, do you prefer a position as a nanny to that of a teacher?”

Haley suddenly understood what Stephen Garrison meant when he suggested his brother had scared off yet another nanny. The man was obviously not shy about voicing his opinion of other people’s choices in life.

“I have no intention of giving up on my desire to become a teacher, Mr. Garrison. I fully intend to devote my evenings off to night school and the eventual attainment of my degree.”

“At which point, I’ll be out a nanny.” His serious expression would have been worrisome were it not for the softness of his amber-colored eyes. He pressed a finger to his mouth and tapped his lower lip, as if in deep thought.

Had her honesty about returning to school possibly cost her the job? Haley’s heart skipped a beat while she formulated an appropriate answer. “I don’t foresee graduation any sooner than two years from now. By then, your son will also be in school full time, and your need for a full time nanny will likely diminish.”

He nodded, as if accepting her logic. “Agreed. I do applaud your decision to return to school as long as you can guarantee me it will not interfere with your care of my children.”

“You have my word, Mr. Garrison.”

He sighed deeply, as if contemplating the taking of a wife rather than the hiring of a nanny. “We can give it a try, if you’re agreeable. I’ll prepare an employment contract for your review. Would you be available to begin next Monday?”

“I see no reason why not. While I am working part time at the moment, they do know I am looking for a permanent position and will not mind my leaving on short notice.”

Eric Garrison passed Haley a folded piece of paper. “This is my offer for both salary and incidentals. Please review it tonight and if you require any changes, convey them to Mrs. Wilkes by tomorrow afternoon. As long as the request is not outrageous, I will work it into the finished contract.”

He stood and Haley rose to her feet behind him. Her fingers itched with the urge to unfold the paper and see what he offered. Yet, it seemed somewhat tacky to do so right there in front of him.

“I look forward to working with your children, Mr. Garrison, and with the rest of your staff. I appreciate the opportunity.”

“The majority of the staff refer to me either as sir, or Mr. G. I do allow Mrs. Wilkes and her husband to call me Eric, in deference to their years of service with my family.”

“Do you have a preference as to how I should address you?”

Haley could have sworn she saw a muscle twitch in his cheek just before he leveled his gaze on her face. Heat radiated up from the Peter Pan collar of her blouse and warmed her neck. If he didn’t stop staring at her, she was sure she’d turn beet red at any moment.

“You may call me Mr. Garrison, Mr. G, or sir in front of the other staff and my children and Eric if it’s just us.”

Just us? Was he crazy? Once their initial meeting was over, Haley had no intention of ever being alone with Eric Garrison again.

Like most authors, Nancy Fraser began writing at an early age, usually on the walls and with crayons or, heaven forbid, permanent markers. Her love of writing often made her the English teacher’s pet, which, of course, resulted in a whole lot of teasing. Still, it was worth it.

When not writing (which is almost never), Nancy dotes on her five beautiful grandchildren and looks forward to traveling and reading when time permits. Nancy lives in Atlantic Canada where she enjoys the relaxed pace and colorful people. She invites you to visit her website, her blog, and follow her on Twitter. Or, more importantly, just enjoy what she writes.
